Audio Systems

Audio is the most basic requirement for effective collaboration over distance. Without audio, the other collaboration technologies are, for the most part, rendered ineffective. The key characteristic of good quality audio in a boardroom or meeting room is that speech must be clear and easily understood, both in the room, and at the remote location.
It would seem that sound should be one of the easiest technologies to master.
But, it isn’t easy – in fact it can be the most tricky variable to negotiate because:
- Every room is unique, so specific acoustical characteristics need to be considered to deliver good quality audio
- Sound is not just ON or OFF. There is a large spectrum of sound quality that can be achieved, and the different types of collaboration should determine the optimal level required
- Choosing the correct sound technologies can significantly enhance the audio experience and foster greater collaboration over distances
At ET Group we understand the importance of great quality audio and we know how to make it happen. We have been doing it for more than 30 years in installations ranging from executive boardrooms, video conferencing rooms, meeting and training rooms, courtrooms and emergency operations centers, to nightclubs and high-end restaurants.
Audio in Boardrooms
Whether it is a meeting within the room, an audio conference, a video conference or a remote whiteboarding session, the speech of all participants needs to be clear and easily understood. Factors that can negatively impact speech intelligibility include reverberation, feedback, uneven volume levels, and inadequate speaker/microphone coverage. Another important feature for good audio in boardroom settings is privacy. Hearing people from adjacent rooms is distracting and compromises the information being shared in the room.
